CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
Justin Hawthorne
A month that flew by with a monster stretch of guided mountain trails, April proved to be a winner! The seasonal change into autumn was duly noticed, with a number of chilly Table Mountain & Devil’s Peak hikes and the vineyards got that noticeable red tinge to their leaves.
Table Mountain with some cloud cover always offers ever-changing scenes – a favourite time of mine to be on the summit. The unique view captured in the above image towards Lion’s Head is also one of my absolute best.
On the same day, I’d been at a different area of Table Mountain and the conditions were calm with some cloud about. While crossing the ridge, the cloud was rising vertically and it formed an incredible component of the composition of this image.
Sunset spots close to home are ideal, and for us down south Black Hill works a charm. We caught a pretty autumn sunset and enjoyed the golden light just a short hike from the house.
Autumn in the Winelands makes for fantastic walkabouts and exploring along with picture-perfect scenes, in turn, great photographic opportunities. We took up the chance with a sunrise adventure at Groot Constantia and came away with this image.
